Brenda gave me a great chair massage which was 30mins. I went on my lunch break so didn’t have time for longer. Helped relieve my tension and made me feel relaxed even though it was only 30 mins. Great staff and overall excellent experience. Scheduled another appointment for following week. When I have more time would like
to schedule an hour massage.

I bought a one year membership at this place. I wish I had not locked myself into the contract. Since my time with this spa the turnover of employees has been astounding. I am working on my third massage therapist. In addition, the owner can’t seem to keep a receptionist. I always book my appointments in advance. Three times the owner has called me to change my appointments. Every time he has called me it has been at a very inconvenient time causing me to have to call back or pull off the side of the road to rebook appointments. He has told me that I need to change my appointments because there will be no receptionist on those days. Everything about this place has become a source of irritation to me. Once my contract is complete I will not return.

So, my loving fiancé graciously gifted me a Groupon massage for my birthday here at EC Wellness Center. I honestly have no clue how I was able to hold out this long to cash in on the deal, but somehow, life got in the way, and 3 months later, I was finally ready to take advantage. I’ll start off by saying that the ONLY reason they are one star shy of a perfect score is because I was never able to call and get through to a real person. When I left a message, it took a couple of days to get a call-back, and it was from a blocked number, so I hesitantly answered and screened the call. Initial conversation with the man I now believe to be the manager (owner?) yielded no results, but I was told I would receive a call the next day. I did not. Then maybe a couple days later, I did hear back for my appointment, and was told I’d receive another follow-up the next day, and again, did not for a couple days.
However, from the moment I showed up for my appointment, it was all smooth sailing. The location is weird, above an Urgent Care building and very sterile looking from the outside. But once inside, I was transported by the sights, sounds, smells, and ambiance into a uniquely spa-like environment. They were running a few minutes behind, but not much, and the massage was AMAZING. It was my first ever deep tissue massage and Stephanie broke me in right. There were a few times when I just felt like she was pushing on me, testing my limits, trying to get a rise out of me, but I never cried uncle. Only during those moments of constant pressure, was the massage anything but enjoyable, but I’m guessing that’s characteristic of deep tissue? I honestly wanted some pain. It really, truly was an epic experience and I look forward to having some sort of steady income again, so I can take advantage of their services once more 🙂

Disappointed with this massage and the place. When I arrived, the door was locked, so I couldn’t get in, even though my appointment was is 8 minutes. Even worse, the massage therapist was locked out too!! Finally, someone came to open the door. I came early to fill out the paperwork they needed. The massage was, for the most part, painful and uncomfortable, instead of being relaxing and feeling good. I was also jipped out of about 15 minutes of my paid 90 minute massage! I would never go back or recommend it to anyone!

Who’d a thunk that this place was inside a medical building in El Cajon?! It felt like a spa in a hotel. The staff was so nice and incredibly professional. The Massage Therapist (Stephanie Jo) was very knowledgeable and intuitive. I was impressed by visit and I would certainly return. It is a little off the beaten path but actually when I timed it, took less time to get there than it does for me to get downtown SD. So.. I would definitely say it’s a “hidden gem” in East County. But after driving around the area on my way back home, I noticed that El Cajon has changed A LOT over the years… not what it was when I was growing up there (SHHHHhhh!!!). Thanks for the great massage East County Wellness Center!!

This place does not know what they are doing when it comes to business or customer service.
I looked on-line at the hours posted which are 8-9 mon-fri and something different on Sat. I went at 4:30pm on a monday afternoon. No one was there. Lights off door locked.
How can a business survive like that. I wasn’t there 10 mins before closing. I was there hours before closing.
I called the next day. 4 times. around 1pm. No answer for any of them. I left a message after the 4th call basically telling them that they need to consider updating their business model if it consisted of never answering the phone or being open when they say they are.
I never asked for a call back. I said that I was disappointed and would not be needing any services from them.
A few hours later I received a call from a number I have never seen. I answered this is how the conversation went:
me:answer phone call: hello?
person calling: WHO IS THIS?
me: um you called me, who is this
person: i have missed calls. why are you calling
me: i’m sorry i’ve never called this number before
person: so why the hell you call me
me: sorry you got the wrong number.
Called the guy back 15 mins later to find out who he was, turns out it was the owner of the company calling me after I asked NOT to be contacted.
The owner returning phone calls on his personal cell and starting the phone conversation demanding knowing who I was when he was calling me is unacceptable.
This was entirely horrible all around.
Sad part, here is the fun kicker… I was trying to go in and buy 15 memberships and pay the whole year on them so I could give them out as gifts to employees as a reward for a huge account we just brought in.
Lesson Learned. Going elsewhere.

This place was fabulous! So sorry to see it’s closed now. The massages I got there were the best ever. The owner, Danny, was great–a very honest, ethical person who I knew from years ago as a journalist covering him in the real estate business. I was pleasantly surprised to discover he owned this wellness business. I hope they reopen one of these days!

I got the groupon 90 minute massage and made an appointment for the next day online. The process was straightforward. Once I arrived I was treated kindly and was told Steven would be my massage therapist. He was AMAZING and friendly. Very knowledgable therapist, been doing this for over 5 years. If you like a lot of pressure, ask for Steven because he will not disappoint. Truly cares about his patients and doesn’t want them to leave without making a difference. Highly recommended!

I found out about this place from a friend, and I’m sure glad I did! The place is very nice, and welcoming – good vibes! The staff was so friendly and knowledgeable , they answered every question I threw at them, especially Steve the massage therapist I was with. Steve was fantastic – I personally like men when it comes to massages for their bigger stronger hands. He exceeded my expectations. I went with a hot stone massage which I highly recommended. By the end of my of session I felt like a whole different person. Will definitely be coming back here soon.

The East County Wellness Center is a hidden jewel. I received a gift certificate and was treated to a therapeutic message. As a person who exercises on a daily basis I felt rejuvenated. I tried the hot stone massage to relieve some muscle strains and I walk out feeling like a new person. I recommend the East County Wellness Center to anyone who is looking for a five star resort type facility in the heart of El Cajon. I am now a memeber and cannot wait to go back in a couple of weeks.

I became a member after my second visit because the staff is very nice and the place is new and very clean. My massages from Kelly have always been very relaxing and best of all have helped with my chronic back pain. The low lighting, soft music, warm towels, and quiet atmosphere make this an awesome place to relax. Try them out, you will be glad you did.
