This was the worst full body Swedish massage I ever had in my life. The masseuse I had was luay. His photo is uploaded on their website saying he’s had all this training. This guy clearly didn’t know what he was doing or what a Swedish massage is.
I let him know in the beginning I would like him not to touch my feet or my head. This guy spoke perfect English so there definitely couldn’t of been a language barrier so I don’t get what his excuse is for not understanding what I meant when I say don’t touch my feet.
It started off with potential in the beginning when he was massaging my back. I noticed he was wasting a lot of my massage time just putting pressure on different areas of my body. Ok I get it maybe do that pressure once but, come on stop pressing on my body and actually rub ( massage it ) I didn’t come here to just get pressed on. He literally was poking my ass with his fingers at one point it actually was a bit painful.
He then took my feet picked them up and pressed them against his chest and was massaging my calves he literally had some weird techniques I’ve never had done on me before. Why was my leg in the air and why were my feet being touch when I specifically asked for them not to be touched. After he finished he had told me to turn around so I did. Thinking he was going to put a towel over my face but, he didn’t I was literally looking up at the bright ceiling feeling so weird so, I had to literally put the blanket over my face. This idiot didn’t even seem to notice and just carried on. He then lifted my towel to my knees and said ” are the calves okay?” What do you mean are they okay you were literally already touching them on the other side. He started massaging my calves and I was just thinking why isn’t he massaging my thighs or when is he going to do my arms. After he finished both calves. He told me “I’ll be right back. When he left the room I was observing my friend getting her massage done beside me. The lady had put a towel on her face facing upwards and she was working away on her arms and legs. He comes back then tells me to turn back around. I was confused and said “oh again?”.
I’m now back to laying on my stomach he puts a hot towel on my back then proceeded to push on my body again then he rubbed my back and said “it’s done would you like some tea?” WTF lol I was in shock ? Like what you mean you’re done ? You just got started wtf were you doing wasting all that time by poking me/pushing on my body that you didn’t make enough time to do a whole body massage. I was so upset. Oh he also said here’s a hot rag for you and left it on the floor instead of passing it over to me. Like that’s just gross it was on a plate But, come on there might of been a better way to do that.
I don’t know what kind of massage I got but, it definitely wasn’t a full body Swedish massage. It was a random I don’t know what the fuck I’m doing kind of massage. I even had to ask the lady in the front if that’s what I got and she said yes. I was so confused.
I was trying to explain to the front desk girl ( she told me her name was cat , she probably lied about it ) she wouldn’t even hear the whole situation before she started walking away and said she’d call her manager.
In the words of this girl her explanation for why my massage wasn’t good was because “we didn’t click” there was nothing to click about it was the fact that he didn’t even do what I asked for. She also went on to say that “she wasn’t in the room with us so, she can’t vouch for what happened to me.” So then I said ” do you think I’m making this up because I’m not. Bring this guy out here and I’ll say it infront of him.” She said she was going to bring him out but, that guy never even came out from the back he wasn’t even massaging anyone else. While she was talking to me she wouldn’t even look at me she was basically looking away the whole time. We asked her for the managers name and how to contact him she simply replied “his name is Alex” we were like uh does he have a last name? She said it in the most annoying rude tone ” there’s no last name” like what does that even mean? This girl is literally stupid. We had to ask her again then she finally says it’s a privacy thing and she wasn’t allowed to give his name or phone number to contact him by she then finally gave us his email. To be honest it’s probably fake. All they did was offer me 30% off which I felt at least give me 50% seeing as it was a half ass job that I recieved. This girl even showed me how to give a zero percent tip before I was even going to do it. LoL
If a customer is coming to you telling you they weren’t happy about the service the first thing you should say is sorry this girl literally didn’t apologize once until the very end of our conversation. If your staff doesn’t know how to handle complaints properly you should probably teach them or always have a manager available.

I have had inconsistent experiences. And this was a better one! Although Haruko’s shoulder massage was too “light”, her foot massage was unbelievable. That experience is what reflexology was all about! She hit every appropriate touch point on my foot with firm pressure. The only feedback is the confirmation process. I booked late the afternoon before and later that night (between 7pm and 8pm), there were 3 phone calls from them (I was at a movie) with no voice mails. I agreed to the cancellation policy so there was no need to be so incessant and to call so late. Leave a voice mail or simply email me! I shall return.

Amazing! In town for business and decided to try here. I had Yuki and he was great. I like stronger pressure and he delivered. Wish I stayed longer in Vancouver so I could come back. Inside felt new and very relaxing!

This place is an absolute gem. The staff were very polite, professional, and accommodating. The best part is that it I didn’t make an appointment and did a walk in. While they do offer appointments( I will definitely book next time with the same masseuse.) today was a spontaneous choice and had the most lovely and relaxing spa experience. I came in for a Swedish massage and my masseuse was just as lovely and caring. Nothing was rushed, and the atmosphere was extremely comforting. I will definitely be coming back!

Hands down my favourite massage clinic in Vancouver. Been over 20 times. Everything is on point, from the cleanliness of the studio to the office staff and of course the massage therapists. Vaia and Miyuki are my go to’s. They are amazing. See you again soon

Came into town for a mini staycation with the hubs. We both had a 1 hr reflexology session. The space is beautiful and clean! Staff were lovely and tbh I don’t remember much of my treatment because I FELL ASLEEP. I don’t know about you but to me that’s usually a good sign that the treatment was AWESOME!!!! We were seated by the window and since it was during the day it was actually really quiet. Thank you for an amazing afternoon! It was much needed for two tired parents lol.

Had another work conference in Vancouver and made a bee line to barefoot. 2 years later this place is still awesome. The receptionist was helpful in squeezing us in and my therapist was so skillful.
My foot massage was so relaxing and I felt amazing afterwards.
See you guys next year!

I was a little skeptical of the location since Barefoot Oasis was located in the little roundabout area across from TNT and behind Stadium Skytrain. It didn’t sound horrible, but just not extremely relaxing to me. However, when I walked in, what I saw what a beautiful little spa for foot and body massages.
This place is pretty much how I’d like to design a spa, -touches of green with brown, gray and white. It felt clean, comfortable and yet still modern. I was greeted warmly by staff and offered tea or water while I filled out my registration form.
I decided to go with a body massage and originally chose the Japanase shiatsu since I wanted to try something new. Karlie ended up explaining to me what the different techniques meant and I realized I wanted something more relaxing instead. I went back to a Swedish massage, which is what I usually get anyway when I visit spas. She was wonderful and my back thanks her too. I fell asleep twice and that’s always a great sign.
After my visit, I received an email summary of my appointment and a chance to complete a survey of my experience. I like that idea.
Another bonus is that when you book your appointment, Barefoot Oasis emails you a reminder the day of. I prefer emails over phone calls so that worked out well. The only thing I would change is to email 1 day prior to the appointment rather than 2 hours.

After a long day of work, the best thing to do is treat yourself to a nice well deserved massage to loosen up all those tight knots.
Barefoot Oasis is indeed a nice oasis away from the busy lifestyle we all live and breathe. The spa is located right by the Stadium Chinatown station and across from T&T, which couldn’t be any more convenient.
Upon entering the spa, the music and décor immediately makes you feel relaxed. And the receptionist immediately greets you with warm water.
I got a 1 hour deep tissue massage from Ringo from Fukuoka. You were given a choice between dry and oil. After I picked oil, I was given the option of rosemary and lavender. If I let her continue talking I might have been given more options, but I pretty much picked lavender as soon as she mentioned it. Nothing beats lavender oil in my opinion.
Ringo was friendly and very receptive to all the feedback I have her during our massage session and adjusted her strength accordingly. She wasn’t overly talkative or overly quiet. Which is a work of art in itself. And after my massage, I felt most of my knots loosen up. I probably need a 2 hour massage to actually rid myself of all those knots I’ve accumulated from work though.
Something I really appreciated was the fact that she tried to make my visit as comfortable as possible. I have this tendency to get nasal congestion and nasal drip during my body massages. For the first time ever, I was actually offered tissue and a garbage can that was placed conveniently next to me. I know this might seem minor, but it’s honestly the minor things that are most memorable.
And after the massage I was offered a packet of chocolate pocky and prince of peace tea. A nice finish to the end of a relaxing experience.
All in all, a nice Japanesque experience, where every minor detail was accounted for.
I wouldn’t mind coming again even though it’s a bit far from home.
Note: They’re still in the midst of looking for an RMT right now for those of you that have work coverage.
For those of you that care, quite a few pokestops nearby 🙂
