I was a spa member in 2019-2020. The front desk staff who checked me in and out were pretty attentive (Emma was always great), there was one instance when a new staff gave me incorrect information about signing up for the spa membership and I was able to contact the spa director right away and she resolved it immediately. As for my massages, Muling and Rachel were my go-to masseuses — I went to Rachel more often because her schedule aligned with mine. Since CoCo county is re-opening up, I got an email recently from the manager notifying their clients that they’re now open for actual spa treatments. I called today and learned that Rachel is no longer with R Spa and front desk couldn’t really tell me where she moved to. Really sad to learn this — if anybody knows where Rachel works now, please let me know! Four stars because I think lower management’s communication skills needs improvement and/or further training, but overall excellent customer service and retention executed by the upper management/GM of the hotel.

The ladies that work the front desk are always kind and helpful with my appointment bookings here and whatnot. I have had great experiences with all members of their massage staff as well as their estheticians. 1 therapist in particular though, I’d like to mention. Her name is Christine and she is new to the establishment, but I wish she had arrived much sooner. If you are somebody who is hard on your body and need someone to get you performing at your top athletic performance, or working through an injury, this may be the one for you. I am so grateful for her work that I plan to have a standing appointment for 80 minutes every week of 2020. Don’t hesitate to book if you’re in pain, and are willing to deal with a little more to get yourself right!

I have been here a couple times to get a massage because I want to use my lifestyle points before they expire.
On 01/24/20 I called around 10am to make an appointment for 1 hr massage. Got an appointment for 4pm. The woman who made the appointment for me mentioned I will need 24 points for 1 hr massage service. Something came up so I called the spa again at 12:45 to cancel my appointment because I was not gonna make it on time. The lady who pick up the phone said I will get charged $25 for the cancellation fee. I let her know I would see if I could reschedule my other appointment and would call back.
I wasn’t able to cancel my other appointment so I called back 10 minutes later to cancel my massage. This time a different woman answered and told me she would charge me 12 lifestyle points, I let her know that the value for 12 points is close to $50, and the previous woman said they charge $25 for canceling same day or within 24 hours. I told her I would rather just pay the $25 and she could charge my card.
I checked my statement a few hours later and saw they charged me $54.50. I called and asked for the manager, they took my info but the manager never called me back.
I’m now trying to get the Walnut Creek’s general manager’s and the regional or district manager’s contact information and will see how they chose to handle this. Will follow up here shortly when I have something new to share.

I bought the largest package for a “full day” treatment . They made time for me right away same day! I was surprised by the wide variety of options they had too, including teeth whitening and tanning….The locker rooms have everything you need to pamper, complimentary hair dryers, cotton balls, tips, mouthwash, mints, teas, fruit, towels, hairspray, sanitized disposable combs! Idky I am not a member at this gym.
The facial was soothing. She did a customized facial based on my skins needs and thoroughly explained everything she was using and doing during the facial! It was so relaxing and I meditated and had the best time ever. They had such a large stock of products to make sure they can accommodate all needs. She was really gentle with the extractor – I barely felt it. And actually the irritated spots on my face were much better looking the next day. I feel like my skin looked brighter and smoother. She was very pleasant and smoky I love that – it’s not relaxing to be around unhappy people.
The full body scrub. Hailey was very professional and explained everything thoroughly… the lavender salt and it smelled like heaven. It wasn’t too rough. The bed with the hydro therapy raining on you sound of water is refreshing.
Next Massage! Hailey focused on the areas I mentioned and was very considerate of the areas I said were sore. She was able to apply a lot of pressure where it mattered and less where less was more – which can be hard to find in a misuse- Ive got a lot of massages and most of the time if you say deep tissue – they do the entire body deep and when you say softer the do the whole body soft – that makes no sense- Different areas have different needs. My needs were well met, I was so zenEd out.
Omg she did this thing to my neck – No misuse has ever done that and I loved it – it was like slight acupressure or pinching around my throat idk but it hit all the right spots and felt amazing! I’d pay just for that. Also she did a nice move from my shoulders to my neck to work out my tough long chronic stress knots around my shoulders which was phenomenal!
Hailey found spots that needed like “micro massage” and spent time on those areas with some finger kneading (that sounds weird lol but it wasn’t at all) and did the same on my neck that was wonderful…. She was super knowledgeable about massage therapy and acupressure points. I definitely prefer deeper massages so my favorite parts of the massage were the really deep tissue parts! I feel like giving that massage would be exhausting but she wasn’t huffing and puffing or drained by the end of the massage. I would’ve been exhausted. She was very graceful and poised.
They should have a vibrating plate you can use as like the end to your massage. For like lymphatic drainage!
One hiccup was they didn’t bring my meal into the spa – so I had to leave to get it and the front desk had no idea what to do or how to get it and just told me to go get it myself – like the restaurant would have a clue who I was asking for a free meal? Awkward situation much? – and had I not remembered I wouldn’t have even got the meal. They forgot to even ask me to order it and I had to ask the facial lady and she was so amazing she totally got the order done for me/ I was confused how front desk was confused and had no idea how I was supposed to get the food? I feel like I shouldn’t have to ask what’s going on and neither should the facial lady. Maybe that’s a training or management issue.
The food was ok the acidic side – it was a veggie wrap and the olive tempanade and hummus was like A LOT it was overpowering and like biting into a ball of mushy unbalanced texture – it just wasn’t balanced well, the flavors and food would’ve been great if they laid them in the wrap evenly and not globs – even portions of ingredients? The salad was fresh, the ingredients quality. The portion was large and I went back into the spa and ate it in peace. They had a magazine I enjoyed while eating there and tea… not gossip magazines. Like vogue and the aficionado etc
I wanted to tipa 20% and I was so confused how she explained it – it made no sense and I was like massage high — and I’m not sure why she did about it because it was added in the total and then she said don’t put it in the gratuity line? Idk I hope they got their tip ?
– Idk the front lady may have been new, but whoever trained her…. She had no clue what was going on, she was kind, smiley and pleasant for sure!!! Great attitude!!!! — so idk and going into the lobby after I got all zen with all that noise pollution was like nail on a chalkboard, I just wanted to eat in peace.
They did have a ladies private spa, sauna and steam room which I got to enjoy after or before / next time I will have to bring a suit and make it a full day.

If you’re looking for a deep tissue massage given by someone with strong hands, Christine is the one for you. She is thorough, well-educated and makes sure to spend the time working on tight muscles and ligaments.

Had the most Amazing massage yesterday with Joli !! I was in a serious amount of pain when I arrived at the club but Joli took care of that. Thank You Joli very much. Also had 2 other ladies @ the club that were so amazing Sandi and Emma. This club offers an R Spa Membership and for $89 per month ( which is way less than you’d pay for 1 massage ) you can have either a massage, or a facial, access to the sauna room, hot tub and fitness center ( on the day of your appointment) plus if you want to add an additional spa service on the day of your appointment on a Mon-Fri they will give you 20% off that additional service !!! Thank You R Spa you all are amazing !!! They really give you the royal treatment !!

I laugh to read that this is not a spa….let’s see you have steam and sauna and whirlpool plus massage and facials. You’re missing a mani-pedi? Go to a simple strip mall salon for that….
Just got in from one of the best facials with Erika. She was great. I’ve been using the same lady/ friend elsewhere for years and she retired….I was so in need of a facial. This did not leave me short -both effective and totally relaxed.
Even the entrance area was “cleaned up” so that it was open and airy in lieu of assuming that somebody is pushing product. Clearly the new Mgmt has it right and that Erika and others are still there speaks volumes.
Looking forward to “my next”
Okay….still a great place. I called and learned that Erika was on vacation! Bummer! But then, I got Danielle. It was great….
So nice to learn that a couple of updates are to the clients advantage. 1) senior staff believe that the new Mgmt will come through and so have stayed 2) lots of help here and place seems even better and 3) somebody got hold of gift cards distribution and they can now (remedied) help out if a gift card is lost!
It’s not FAIR to throw in old reviews with prior Mgmt…this place rocks

Had a massage today with Christine and she was wonderful. I had many
deep tissue areas that needed treatment and she found therm all and some others I wasn’t aware of. She is very professional and knows how to do deep tissue treatment properly to achieve optimal results.

A hotel gym not a spa!
I give my awful experience at this “spa” a D grade. Summary: I would pay more to receive treatments at a spa because of the extras. I want to be pampered by skilled technicians in a relaxing ambiance with treatments that leave me feeling amazing. R failed at all the above. I struggled to give it even 2 stars, but ultimately the treatments accomplished their intended result. I left with a glowing face, soft skin, but feeling more stressed than when I entered and completely dissatisfied. I wish I could have a full refund for ruining a relaxing spa day, but it was a birthday gift.
Facility= huge F! Treatments= C Customer Service= D
The Review
The good:
I was able to get an appt via the phone on the day I wanted- booking within the same week. I went on a weekday hoping it would be less busy. I was told to arrive early, and when I asked I was informed there was free valet parking with spa validation. It would be my 1st visit and I was looking forward to a relaxing day.
The bad:
I wanted a mani-pedi, but R didn’t offer nail service, so I booked those with a new day spa in the same area. My plan was to get my nails done, go to R for a nice lunch with treatments to follow.
When I arrived at R the valet was quick. I was all ready in full relaxation mode from the day spa where I had an amazing experience (reviewed separately). I entered the hotel right at lunch time and it was full of gym goers. There was no signage for the spa, and the front desk had a line of customers. No concierge booth in sight despite being a luxury hotel. I walked along the main corridor and found the cafe. I saw a small sports bar next to it, but no restaurant. I waited in line and bought something cold from the counter. After 5 mins of sports center I couldn’t wait to find the spa and get back to relaxing.
The spa was next to the gym in the hotel gift shop. I checked in and was asked if I wanted robe and slippers. It wasn’t implicit, but it felt like an up charge. I was led down a dark hallway to a gym-like locker room that was dated, smelly and un-spa-like.
I received hard plastic flip flops that looked used with oily residue and some white substance. I opted to wear my own sandals rather than chasing down a clean pair, even though I think I was charged for them (no receipt offered). The robe was thin without plush and offered no warmth in the cold tiled locker room. The only amenity was a can of cheap hairspray.
The ugly:
I left the stadium lit locker room out to the dark hallway. I say dark, because the lights were turned off! No ambiance whatsoever. I wandered through ceiling high drapes to find a waiting area. It wasn’t a room, it was a larger part of the hallway that they hung curtains on one end and nothing on the other. The lights were off here too, but there was a single dim lamp and some vinyl chairs. A small table held hot water, tea, and a pitcher of ice water next to plastic cups.
Then the room began to shake and vibrate from wall to ceiling!! It completely drowned out the elevator music. Have you ever stayed in a hotel hoping to get a good night sleep only to be awoken at 2am to the sound of your neighbors banging it out through the wall? It was that times 10. I sat down on the stiff vinyl with my tea. It was too dark to read the magazines on the table. There was nothing else to look at other than spa goers and staff walking through the hallway. No one greeted me.
After 20 mins of buffalo stampeding (I was later told the gym is directly ABOVE THE SPA!) I left to see if something was wrong. I was met in the drapery by my technician. I was told that she had me down for 15 mins later than what I booked (which she was 5 minutes late for judging by the digital clock in the room). And she had me booked for the wrong facial! She was gracious and switched to the facial I wanted. It was fabulous.
When I checked that my next treatments where accurate, come to find out their mistake would have cost an extra $30! Plus, now my treatments where ending later than booked, so there was no time to use the steam room or sauna. They offered to refund me the difference for the facial I didn’t receive, but nothing for my inconvenience. I knew that I would NEVER come back. I just wanted to get my treatments over with and leave.
This was not my 1st sugar scrub, so I can say it was truly awful! The space resembled a hospital morgue. Red light glowed through the glass door to reveal a room with frigid tile floors, bare walls, floor to ceiling cabinets with a sink and a plastic exam-like table with body length shower heads above. She told me to lay face down with my butt covered by a thin hotel towel. There was no music, scented oils, or anything to feel relaxed about while being hosed down and briskly scrubbed under red light. I cut the treatment short. She took 15 mins from my treatment to clean. The massage was good. I left a generous tip, because the techs were decent and shouldn’t be punished for horrid facilities!

Other reviews have written about how “it’s not an actual spa,” which might be true because it is joined with a hotel, so if you’re going for a “spa” experience, I would agree you might be confused.
That being said, and with the right mindset, R Spa is great for facials, massages, etc. I come here once a month-ish for a facial with Ianiatza and it was a huge help in solving my acne problem. They recommend helpful products, but aren’t pushy, and all in all I’ve seen my skin improve leaps and bounds since starting here last year. Very clean, everyone is nice, so a great experience for me all the way around. Highly recommend going and getting your skin looked at if you have acne, as the treatments have worked really well for me.
