I’ve been going to Thailand for 15 years and I never cared much for Thai massages but would get them at times because they’re so cheap in Thailand. I never thought about getting one in the states because I just thought of it as a pampering, spa-like experience. It wasn’t until I was in LA that I got my first heavy duty massage. I was actually thinking this girl was going to do some damage and thought of running out of there but she kept reassuring me that it would be OK. When I left I felt like a different person and the years of knots that had been building up from my job were gone. I was hooked.
For a few years I’d get a massage when I was in Thai Town in LA but work changed and I don’t get there much anymore. I tried a few places but didn’t have much luck. It really depends on whose doing it and how good she is. On a whim I went to Metta and met Datchy. I was immediately impressed. She’s got strong hands, works fast, and keeps attention to everything that’s going on whether it’s the tension in my muscles or making sure I’m kept warm with the towel/blanket. I’ve been in to see her when I pass through and am always grateful for the work she does.
Now I think of a massage like spicy food. You’ve got to feel some pain to get the benefits. How would she be if I needed a soft, gentle massage? I don’t know. I can’t say anything about the decor or other people working there because I just know Datchy and could care less about the atmosphere, other than feeling welcomed, warm and relaxed.

Excellent. Authentic. Not cheap but not expensive. Quality has it’s price.

They know to be on the balance of pleasure and pain to help you get rid of all muscle tensions. Highly recommend!

Excellent massage every time. Metta offers one of the best massage experiences I’ve had. Based on traditional Tai techniques therapists apply their body weight, on the pressure points, releasing the tension, opening up the muscles and reaching deeper tissues than in classical styles even with the stronger therapists. After the session you feel renovated for several days. Even my vision improves for an hour or so after the session.
All staff is very friendly and professional. They offer a special hot tea after the session and adjust each session to your particular pain points. I’d like to thank Tao and O specifically for their excellent work.

Best massage I’ve ever had. Been here 3-4 times. Very reasonable rates also.

A great massage for not too much money! It’s a traditional Thai massage (as per their name), so be ready for an intense therapeutic treatment, including them using feet, knees, and elbows as well as hands.

Walked in today with my kid’s fathers day gift certificate and was told they take no walk-ins on Saturdays. This is after I’ve walked in on previous Saturdays. The woman out front took one look at my 30min red paper and was already making excuses not to take me. Nothing irks me more than poor customer service. Never recommending this place again.

I have been going to Metta Traditional Thai Massage for the past six months. I should have written a review sooner but I have to admit — I would like to keep the place a secret for myself and the others who regularly go there. I started with a 90 minute session every other week and quickly increased to a 90 minute session weekly. For every session but one, I have seen Yupa. She is incredible! Besides being a sweet, generous and giving human being, Yupa has excellent massage skills. She is very intuitive about what areas require attention but nevertheless always asks before starting whether there are any changes since our last session or areas I want more work. I have formal training as a massage therapist so I am quite particular about who I see. I highly recommend Yupa (just don’t book my session times- LOL). I can also recommend Supinya who covered for one session when Yupa was out of town.
All the staff I have interacted with display the same caring, loving attitude toward those who come for their healing touch (and sleazy men, please do NOT misinterpret my statements — this is a legit business).
I have spoken to a few others who have seen other practitioners at Metta and everyone is highly appreciative of the skills and care received there. I’m so happy my physical therapist recommended Metta Traditional Thai Massage. I look forward to my weekly sessions.
