Johnny was phenomenal. He gave me a 5-star therapeutic massage. This was no relaxing, fall asleep on the table massage. He kept it intense, at 6-7 on a scale of 10. He was engaging in finding the trouble spots and getting continuous feedback on the intensity. Get this: he pulled my shoulder blades out of the way so he could get “4 layers down”… yeah, that’s a thing. Those muscles had never been touched by the outside world. They were feisty but Johnny won that argument.
The hour was work but so worth it. I feel absolutely amazing – like I traded in my body for a 10 year younger upgrade. This was a game changer to get me back into my workout routine. I am so glad I went.
Oh, regarding COVID – they are highly conscientious and cautious. I caught the reassuring scent of disinfectant everywhere but vapored over with a nice whatever aroma they were pumping out. They had a set up with a filtering bag attached to the face donut so I would not have to wear my mask and gasp for air when face down.

I have been to Massage Therapy Center twice now since it’s recent reopening after the COVID situation and I am impressed with the practices that they have put in place to keep both staff and customers safe and at ease. They have everything posted on their website. My body has been in incredible pain with all the stress and I have been hoping the would open for a very long time. And FINALLY, they’re open. My massages with Janeel were amazing and I’m starting to work through the knots in my back now and I feel that I’m one step closer to living with health and wellness. I’ve been coming here for massages for over 10 years and during that time I’ve never had a bad massage — or even a mediocre massage. Each of the several therapists that I’ve been to have been most excellent. An excellent value for the price.

I’ve been looking to get a massage recently and my friend recommended me MTC and decided to give it a try. I was thoroughly pleased with my experience! Everyone in there was so nice and welcoming, the sauna was my favorite part. Would definitely comeback!
When I booked the appointment, the price was really affordable, I had a sore neck and a sore back, but with the deep tissue treatment, everything felt a lot better. My endorphins was loose and the stiff part of my joints and muscles were released and everything felt a lot better.
If you’re sore, And need a massage this is the place to go.

First time getting a massage here. The staff was very friendly (which is what is driving this review from 2 to 3 stars), but I didn’t get the massage I was looking for to be completely truthful. I did ask to have the focus be more on my upper body/back, but a lot of the time was spent on other places of my body. I had to ask for this two times but still feel not much time was spent on my shoulders. I also asked for kneading but that was not listened to either. I also had asked to have more pressure applied, and at first they did, but went back to the previous pressure that was being applied. Also, during a majority of my 1 hour massage, we were having a lot of small talk. Although I do enjoy talking to people, I really wanted to relax and wind down, but felt obligated to keep up the conversation and to not ignore them.

A few weeks ago, I had one of the best massages I’ve ever received here from Selena–she is strong! Also, she honed in on my most tight areas and was able to relax me.
When I arrived, Amber at the front desk realized that my scent-sensitivity (noted in my chart) was not yet conveyed to Selena, so she brought the product Selena uses in the waiting room for me to smell. All was fine. Amber did this without me even mentioning it. I often encounter much unawareness about my inability to tolerate scented products, so I am very grateful for her amazing customer service and attention to detail.
Estel and Susan are healing bodyworkers; both are completely attuned to my body during the massage session. Another therapist I’ve had is Loretta, who is methodical in working out each tight knot in my back. I appreciate that Ms. Miracchi keeps a place focused on no-frills healing and bodywork with a clean serene environment. Prices are comparable, and even less, than other massage establishments. I’m happy to support this woman-owned business that’s been a part of California Ave community for decades.

In February, I booked a message together with two friends. I had Swedish/ Trigger point massage session for 1 hour. I felt that we didn’t have good communication with my massage therapist and couldn’t relax. The massage lasted less than 1 hour (my friends started 15 minutes earlier and we finished at the same time). However, I did like the environment and the sauna, and the service was good. I may try another therapist in the future.

I was dismayed to see the review by CloudS. Not only did she mention the therapist’s name, she accused him of illegal behavior. I have to say that could be slander unless she can prove her assertion. Please look at CloudS’s profile: no friends, and only entries for February 2019. I wonder why that is…
I have been a Massage Therapist Client for over 20 years. I know that MTC is rigorous in vetting and choosing therapists. And once they join MTC, they are re-educated on appropriate behavior in case their former training did not cover that. The reason MTC continually gets good ratings is that no other massage facility in Palo Alto offers the deep expertise these therapists offer. MTC therapists are deeply committed to healing. Every session I have had reflects their concern, their care, and their expertise.

They’re the real deal. I first discovered them way back in 2010 and I’ve been coming here ever since on and off. I’ve been other places in San Mateo which are closer but the quality of the massage here is way higher. I leave feeling like I got a new neck and a new back every single time.
You have to leave some time for parking as it’s street parking and the front desk can get a little busy with everyone trying to pay at the same time. But those are minor things compared to the quality of the massage which is just outstanding
