Ask for Napa, she’s great. I prefer a fair amount of pressure during my massage and she struck the perfect balance. She also checked in occasionally to make sure I was comfortable, which I appreciate.

Update: **I returned yesterday after many many months and I must say the level of client service is amazing. The manager had put notes in the system documenting if I returned it would be on them and from the moment I phoned they took care of everything. Accommodating my last moment request as well. I was booked with Bibby and he was much better than the others I’ve tried there. Bottom line a massage experience is all about personal preference and I believe this place cares about your experience. So be expressive as to what your needs are and I’m confident they will do their best to ensure the best experience. I’m glad I returned and truly was impressed with all the details they remembered about me.
**** I’m so sorry to say this place is very underwhelming. I’ve been three times, each time it was gifted to me and thank goodness for that. Because I get a massage at least once a week and for what this place charges I’m shocked the therapists aren’t better. I specifically stated to the staff I didn’t enjoy my last therapists so they noted it in the system and assured me this time would be better. I requested deep tissue but got a light rub no matter how many times I asked for more pressure. The masseuse was a nice lady but I didn’t come to make a friend and what I got was a life story and am very choppy massage. Here was no flow and honestly I think because of her talking she forgot to even do my left arm. There just was no rhythm and it was not even worth my time. I have another 90 minute gift card and what a bummer that I don’t even want to use it. To each his own. My boyfriend likes it here but unless I’m desperate or really want to use my gift card I don’t think I’ll be

Back in LA means back at Massage Therapy Center. Was feeling like my body was broken after moving back here from Carlsbad, boxes upon boxes, getting settled in new home.
Happily showed up for my appt and was greeted — as always — by the cheerful person at the front desk. Then enjoyed the changing room/spa without anyone else there. (3.30 on a Tuesday turned out to be a very good time, you have the place to yourself) They have showers and also a steam room in the women’s bathroom/changing room.
Had a glorious deep tissue massage and floated out of there on my way home. Was glad to find that the place hasn’t changed, still the calm, quiet, peaceful place it’s always been. Sophia gave a very deep massage and got those kinks out.

Update: the manager contacted me after reading my review and told me they were doing renovations when I last visited. The corporate side of the business has been extremely helpful at addressing my issues. My earlier review about the masseuses still remains unchanged.
I’ve lived off Sawtelle since 2012. My partner and I went here for many years as it was close and convenient. It was a relaxing and stress-relieving environment for a long time. Most recently in October 2017 I had an appointment with a masseuse named Debbie. The massage was tough but firm until she decided that my rotator cuffs were too tight. I listened to her as she’s the expert therapist and I took her joke of my “torture” being over after she finished in stride. I was very sore but thought I just needed the strong adjustments. Turns out she had stretched and manipulated my arms so far out of position that I have labral tears. Nearly four months later and I haven’t healed fully.
The management has handled the issue well but I still haven’t received any contact from the masseuse directly. All masseuses are independent contractors so the owners are free of liability. Smart business but makes for dangerous and spotty service. I won’t recommend this place to anyone any longer. Also, in recent years it’s gone downhill steadily. For starters the bathroom area and lockers have always been cramped and tiny. But, once clean and well maintained, now they, especially the showers, aren’t as kept up as they used to be.

Love the fact that there are locker rooms with shaving, oral and beauty products within reach.
I am a sucker for a saunas and steam rooms so the fact that they have a steam room for use before and/or after you massage is a huge plus for me.
The showers are great so you can get all the oils off and if your headed anywhere you can fully pamper yourself up.
Massage was great because the masseuse was attentive to my body’s needs And kept an open line of communication

I am a massage aficionado so when I got pregnant, was very sad to find that most prenatal massages did not deliver the same benefit I was used to. I tried 4 or so different places and was consistently disappointed until I found the Massage Therapy Center and in particular, Charles. Charles does a masterful prenatal massage and is so knowledgeable about which spots to avoid, positioning, and keeping the mommy to be comfortable. Additionally, he’s just a nice, pleasant person to be around. I loved my experience so much, I got my husband a gift card for a session with Grace. He also had a great experience and was blown away by how knowledgeable Grace is. Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for skilled practitioners and a clean, pleasant environment. There’s also free parking in the shopping center, although I usually choose the street given the lot can be a bit tight.

Loved this place! Went in for a massage with my husband and we both really enjoyed it. We are planning to get a membership.

Had my first massage from Massage Therapy Center and was assigned to Heather. She was beyond excellent. Clearly she is gifted and no doubt a wonderful healer. My back had been stiff and moving was uncomfortable for a couple of months. I didn’t think one treatment could possibly resolve this. Not only did she completely understand what I vaguely explained, she had a total instinctive sense of how much pressure to use and where. I am so grateful and will be singing her praises to anyone who will listen. And who could not love the eucalyptus steam room. Heaven.

The massage was awesome! I definitely recommend Charles for deep deep tissue. Great stretching and pressure for my tight spots. This is a nice hidden spa

It’s not the cheapest place ever, but it’s certainly not the most expensive. There is a small locker room for each gender, along with showers, a steam room, cucumber water, and some hygiene products to get you back out the door if you forgot your own.
The massages are great, and they give you the full hour or the full 90 minutes, instead of skimping like other places do. All of the massage therapists have been good, though Mico is my favorite. She is good at getting knots out while not leaving you too sore the next day. They do couples massages here as well.

I’ve been here a few times now and have always had amazing massages so it’s about time I write a review! Where to begin…
– The whole place is just amazing. It’s always so clean and quiet and relaxing and the facilities are top notch. The women’s locker room is very peaceful and they have the most comfy robes I’ve ever worn. They have showers and a steam room for use before or after your massage, which is awesome. They also have hairdryers, brushes, deodorant, makeup mirrors, etc. you name it, they have it for you.
– The prices aren’t cheap but you definitely get what you pay for. I’ve had the best massages I’ve ever gotten at this spa. I will continue to keep coming back.
– The most recent massage I got was with Anke and she was wonderful! I was so relaxed and she worked at every knot and tension I had. Her amount of pressure was perfect and I never had to ask her to do more or less. And she was so approachable that I wouldn’t have felt nervous-awkward having to ask for more or less if that were the case.
I absolutely love massage therapy center and highly recommend it to anyone looking to get a really high quality massage!

This place is such a wonderful hidden gem, providing a calm and peaceful space amidst the bustling Little Osaka/Sawtelle neighborhood! I really enjoyed my first experience and will be visiting again soon. And remember, when it comes to spa/massage/facials, you get the quality and professionalism you pay for.
The space is well-decorated and maintained, and I have amazing interactions from the staff. I’m never good at really identifying my needs to masseuses, because I feel tense everywhere always, so I appreciated my masseuse just taking lead.
The sauna is an amazing addition to an already rejuvenating and amazing visit!
