I always have a wonderful experience going to Academy Massage. From reception being super friendly and helping me rebook my last minute appointment requirement, to amazing therapist who helped with my extreme tension headache and face pain. This time of year is so stressful and I was grateful to the kind and professional services they provided. They have a loyal customer in me

Great place, nice and welcoming atmosphere!
Staff is accommodating and highly professional. Booking process was done by phone, also can be done online. Direct billing to most of the insurance companies.
Therapist Volodymyr did a great job dealing with my back pain, skilled professional, highly recommended

Positive: Communication, Professionalism, Quality
I’ve received 2 massages so far, and the service was just what I needed. Came in with sore shoulders and neck, and Jordon helped me relieve the stiffness and soreness with a deep massage. I have been to a few other locations, but havent felt any better that I did after Academy Massage. Front desk and staff are friendly, welcoming and accommodating. It especially helps that they are open after regular business

I have been going here for a few years now and I suppose that’s all the review you would need. I keep coming back! I have been pleased with the quality and pricing on the massages. They have always been good about any special requests that we have such as preferentially getting someone of a certain gender, etc.
I also like the building they are in. I would recommend

On October 28/20 I went for my first massage. The staff was polite, and the service was excellent.
My therapist let me know that I can remove my mask when facing down on the table, but required to have my mask on when facing up.
When I was leaving the premises, there was one client not wearing a mask in the common area and one staff person removing his mask when making his way from a back room going up the stairs – right in from of me.
One week later, on November 4, when I was leaving and had to get my insurance card back from the receptionist, she was not wearing a mask. When I said something, her reply was that she was just eating. I replied “you are not eating now, you are serving a client”. She pointed to the plastic shield, and then put on her mask.
She was very rude.
I cancelled the rest of my appointments and scheduled them at Urban Massage where the therapists wear masks and protective face shields, and the bonus is that they are less expensive.

I’ve been here quiet a few times, every time was a good experience with exception of one time because the room was cold. Will definitely be making another appointment soon 🙂 I would recommend Christy & Bernadette

This is the place to get a massage in the city. Friendly staff and great therapists! I like that they do direct billing with most insurance companies. The atmosphere is cozy and very relaxing. The therapists are very respectfu

I haven’t had a massage in a long time and thought it was about time to treat myself to one. I searched online for affordable massage therapy places in Winnipeg and found Academy. It was the first time I was there. The facilities are clean. I love the fact that it’s in a nice house (there are other houses joined to it with other businesses next door).
If you’re looking for a very quiet and tranquil place, this wouldn’t really be for you just because it is an older house like the other review has mentioned. I on the other hand don’t mind as long as the job gets done and is done right.
The massage therapist I had was awesome. She asked what I wanted and I told her my problem areas and I also like that after the massage, she gives a breakdown of what felt needs more work in the future and what I can do at home to help with those problem areas as well.
If you’re looking for a good massage, I would request for Morgan

It’s located in a strip of adjoining houses that form a pseudo strip mall on Academy Road. I like that they’re open 7 days a week and that they are open till 9 pm on weeknights. They have a lot of therapists there so I can usually get an appointment on the same day that I call.
I go with a different therapist every time, some are better than others. My definition of a great massage is someone who listens to my problems and then gives me a super deep tissue massage. The good ones really focus on the problem and give advice on what to after the treatment. I’ve had some great massages here and some bad ones but this is all due to the fact that I go with a different therapist every time. Although I never found the right therapist here so I’ve moved onto another clinic. But for the times when I can’t get an appointment with my current massage therapist, I call Academy.
Pros:
– very clean facility, sheets are decently soft
– they have a FT receptionist (some places don’t)
– lots of therapists (possible to get in on the same day)
– good pricing; it’s in line with most clinics around the city
Cons:
– because it’s an old house, you can hear a lot noise from the second floor (loud creaks) which can be a bit distracting if you’re looking for a very tranquil environment
– certain rooms kinda loud, like the one near the kitchen or the laundry room; I prefer the ones on the second level
– hit and miss with the therapists (some are friendly, a few seem a bit cold) so if you find a good one, keep them!
– if you want direct billing to your insurance company, you have to pay a $3 admin charge – kinda annoying since other places don’t do that. But you can just pay the entire bill and handle your own reimbursement if you want to avoid that charge.
